About Our Farm
Our Farm

At Tony’s Farm, we pride ourselves on being far more than farmers of organic vegetables. It is more than merely a farm… it is an all-consuming philosophy – an attitude towards life, our living planet, and the health and well-being of all people. That’s why our dedicated team actively nurtures nature’s treasures, in a way that respects and protects all the elements of our natural environment. Our driving force has always been the vision and commitment of Tony Zhang, the inspired founder of Tony’s Farm. Abandoning all other business opportunities, Tony pioneered organic agriculture back in 2004, and has given his every moment to fulfilling his lifelong dream of healthy food, responsible lifestyle, and environmental harmony. The world is a better place when such caring and commitment exists, and we soon realized that we all have a significant contribution to make.

Every inch of soil is lovingly nurtured

The vision became real only after many years of exploration, when Tony finally discovered the precise location for his dream to blossom – a place that was perfect for his Garden of Eden to flourish - Datuan, Pudong New District. It was amongst the first land to be caressed by the fresh and rejuvenating seasonal winds - fresh, clean, crisp, and moisture-laden. Pollution was virtually zero, and the landscape was embraced by sunshine and warmth. However, the soil itself had suffered from years of chemisal abuse and pollution. Yet, Tony belived that he could rejuvinate and rekindle the life-giving force of this earth.
Whilst the potential of this land was immense, it was still well below the high standards required to be a truly ‘organic’ growing environment. The soil structure, water courses and even the air quality, required strict rejuvenation and management systems, not to mention significant investment, to create the ultimate growing foundation. Anything less than perfect was unacceptable.

More than three long years of transformation began. Pesticides of any kind were banned from use to protect and revitalize the natural soil composition. Crop selection, planting, rotation, and intercropping were managed to enhance the contribution to soil structure and the natural chemical balance. The soil was, in fact, being fed, rested, and rejuvenated.

Every detail is meticulously attended to

In order to further purify the air quality, masses of protection plants were laid out to ‘filter’ and oxygenize the environment. Furthermore, to improve the purity of river and irrigation water, Tony’s Farm made an historical leap forward in China by investing an incredible RMB60 million to ensure responsible water resource management systems and to create a separate and efficient water circulatory system protected from any possible pollutants.

With all the natural elements restored and revitalized, planting became the focus, with unequalled plant ‘quality’ being the ultimate reward. For planting, numerous experts in organic vegetable growing scrutinized all aspects of the planting processes, such as crop variety selection, planting methods and land and water resource management. To strictly monitor quality, specialists regularly accompanied farmers into the field, to oversee and advise on sowing, irrigating, and even ploughing techniques. For the farmers involved, it was like a re-awakening, a re-unification with the earth, a revitalization of their love and respect for the natural elements that make farming so fulfilling. As people’s understanding and appreciation of true ‘organic’ farming grew, and the high quality of the harvest became evident, it was clear that organic farming was here to stay.

In management, we are one of the few farms who use the ERP system and CRM system. Scientific management is used to ensure that we provide only the very best services and procedures. Currently, we are perfecting a ‘from field to dining table” product-monitoring system - where each and every detail of each and every vegetable is recorded and re-traceable, ensuring that all the vegetables you eat are perfectly natural, safe worthy of the Tony farm name.

After years of unending contribution, we have not only improved the land and surrounding environment, and raised farmers’ awareness of planting, but also maintained the natural harmony of the earth itself. We make such remarkable progress only because we are totally committed to the ethics and responsibilities we embrace when genuinely caring for people and the planet.

For us, organic vegetables is only part of our contribution

As we communicated more and more with our customers, we realized that most people feel a lot of pressure from city life, so we invited our customers to the farm for some farm-style relaxation time. Gradually, we found more and more people love it here on the farm. Even if they just take a leisurely walk and play with their family in the sunshine, they have much bigger smiles on their faces. To help more people enjoy the unique feeling of “the countryside”, we are now focusing on our visitor programme and facilities. We have invited the German Expo Pavilion design team to design an environmental concept ‘container’ hotel, transforming shipping containers into a unique farm hotel, which is environmentally-friendly and very comfortable to stay in. We also allocated a large plot of land exclusively for children to plant and observe how a plant grows and to learn how strawberries are harvested. To make people more comfortable during their weekend stay here, we provide Canadian style wood houses, fishing terrace, and more. It is a refreshing and rejuvenation experience, far from busy offices, dull fluorescent lights, pollution, and traffic. In addition, it is ideal for corporate activities that exhilarate staff and stimulate creativity.

This is our farm, our philosophy, our way to improve the world for all. We will continue to enthusiastically express our commitment to you and to the environment in every way we can. We sincerely hope that you will want to join us, for your health, your family, our planet, or just for a day’s relaxation and soul-warming communication with nature.
